Chamber of Commerce v. Dept. of Industrial Relations

In a groundbreaking case, the California Supreme Court has held that the entire California Labor Code is unconstitutional in that it “impairs the Constitutional obligation of contracts” between principal and agent. The Court went on to make explicit that all regulations enacted under the authority of the Labor Code are also void. Management attorneys all over the state celebrated in what one legal secretary described “a burst of joy not unlike a dog finally catching that car it’s been chasing all those years.”

The parties were later cancelled when the firms realized that the overwhelming majority of their work had just evaporated.

APRIL FOOL’S DAY.
