Lou and Rich C.
I got nothing for you, you are in your own little world where everyone is Ward Cleaver. It would be a wonderful gift to be able to save money in this economy.

It's not a perfect world.

Rich your comparing apples and oranges.

lou:

Im all for personal responsibility, but how does one who earns minimum wage with no tax shelters save enough to go without 2 weeks of income? Yeah, if Im making 100k a year I should be able to save up a decent emergency fund, but Id like to see how the lowest wage earners who pay the highest % of their income in TOTAL taxes (not just FICA) can save. Really, show me how to do it. Have you done it?

Rich:

70k? Really? Id like to see the math on that. How does offering a few sick hours to minimum wage earners equal three times their annual salary? What makes me sick about the right is that they use sarcasm and emotion to exemplify their position rather than logic. Show me the numbers.

To karen: the only reason why takeing two weeks off work devastated your household was because you had NO Savings whats so ever. Always looking for the next hand out.
How about puting money aside form every paycheck and stop spending beyond your means and when your get in trouble you look for the nearst bailout Help! Help! poor me I spent all my money on starbucks and poor choices.

The real issue is that I will fire any employee who does not have a docters note and if this law passes. I will fire one employee to cover the cost and let the rest work harder.

If you think about how many people are out sick in this state and how almost 40% of employers do not provide paid sick time, if you're out with a serious illness like I was I would not have been paid for the 2 weeks I was out sick. 2 weeks of no pay would have devastated my household. Then if I would have went to work, others in the business would have become sick and the business would have suffered dramatically. So for you to say that what you have about free society, this will take care of society when it's sick. And the 14 Billion dollar deficit has little to nothing to do with employers paying sick leave, but the increase in FEDERAL Govenment spending in WARS. When Clinton was in office we had a surplus. When Bush took over, not only did he spend the surplus but he also put us in this deficit. In order for this Bill to pass, we as voters have to vote on it, or did you forget with all the ranting and raving that you've been doing. You need to look at it as a whole. When a company has a better benefits program it attracts better skilled employees. There is no California law that states an employer has to pay for vacation or sick time. There is no California law that states an employer has to provide a 401K program. As an Architectural Designer, do you think that I would waste my time at a firm that doesn't take care of it's employees and then have them expect me to bust my butt to make them money? I don't think so. If you decide to start up your business, good luck, I'm sure you'll have the best skilled employees.

This is absolutely stupid and against everything a free society represents. No wonder business is leaving this socialist state in droves. No wonder we have a 14 Billion dollar deficit.. Arnold, do you remember your speech about being taxed when you get up, taxed when you brush your teeth, taxed, taxed, taxed? Do you know the cost of this is $70,000 a year for a small businessman for each employee? Absolutely disgusting. I am so fed up with the socialists running this state, and country for that matter, that I feel like giving up. I'm gonna stop making payments on my mortgage. Who cares, the government wants to subsidize deadbeat home owners now, I might as well become one. Why should I bust my butt so I can be taxed to the hilt and my money given to the dead beats.. I'm no longer thinking of starting a business and I really have been thinking about it.. Why should I? I'm obviously not smart enough to take care of my workers.. Someone much smarter than me, a government beaurocrat that I'm forced through taxes to pay, is much smarter in knowing what and how to run my business... We might as well throw away our Constitution and bring in Cuba's instead. That is exactly where we are headed... What an sad state we've become.. Arnold, are you listening. Either you beleive in the individual working his/her rear end off and moving up due to the merit of hard work, or you beleive we don't have a clue how to take care of ourselves, we're much too stupid, and we need the omni potent government to do it for us.. Thomas Jefferson said it well " A government big enough to give you everything is a government big enough to take it all away" And voters are allowing that exact thing to happen...

I am a contracted worker. I work, reside and pay California Taxes. My company does not allow sick leave. We, as a group, are curious. Does this apply to us ? Our contract is was created out of state. Would this bill help us get sick leave if it does pass the Senate ?
